Become a Member of the Clinical and Translational Research Institute

    There are three types of membership in the Clinical and Translational Research Institute - General Membership, Associate Membership and Affiliate Membership. Requirements and benefits for all three are listed below.

      Apply for CTRI Membership

      Requirements (Any One of the Following)

      • Serve as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator at UCSD or CTRI Partner institutions on funded research involving translational and/or clinical research
      • Consistent track record in clinical and/or translational research at UCSD or CTRI Partner Institutions
      • Enrolled in a K12, K08, or K23 program at UCSD or CTRI Partner Institutions

      Benefits

      Access to CTRI resources for advancing disease- or patient-oriented research, including:

      • Assistance with project design (in both pre- and post-funding stages), including selection of potential imaging and biomarker assessments, and biostatistics and bioinformatics support
      • Clinical research staffing support
      • Assistance with subject recruitment strategies, and Human Research Protection regulatory support
      • Introduction to potential community agency partners
      • Eligiblility for co-funding by the CTRI for services provided.  Co-funding applies to peer reviewed and investigator initiated projects
      • Eligiblility for CTRI pilot project funds and Catalyst Grants
      • Eligiblility for CTSA-specific RFAs from the NIH
      • Access to CTRI retreats, symposia, seminars, and sponsored conferences
      • Discounted tuition or fees for eligible CTRI educational programs
      • Mentoring and career development support
      • CTRI input for academic appointment and promotion files
      • Assistance with fund raising activities to support disease-related programs
      • Eligibility for support from the CTRI in public announcement of research and clinical achievements

      Associate Membership

      Requirements (Any One of the Following)

      • Community physicians and community healthcare workers, and individuals from industry, nonprofits, and Community Based Organizations who are interested in or participate in translational and/or clinical research
      • Collaborate in research conducted by CTRI General Members, defined as providing essential and sustained intellectual or practical help, recruiting patients and volunteers to clinical trials led by CTRI members, or systematically assisting in the procurement of clinical specimens for translational and/or clinical research
      • Organize or play a substantive role in an essential CTRI academic activity, such as an educational program or a core service
      • Research fellows or trainees who have an interest in or participate in clinical and/or translational research
      • Participants in the CTRI T32 or CREST program
      • Participate in CTRI activities, such as ad hoc committees to review Pilot and/or Catalyst Grants

    Affiliate Membership

    Affiliate Membership provides access to CTRI mailings regarding CTRI activities, including educational opportunities. Individuals from UCSD or any CTRI partner institution are eligible for Affiliate membership.
